Water.

The very thing God gave freely to Adam in Eden.

The very thing Jesus used to baptize.

The very thing Pharaoh tried to claim, but God struck Egypt with blood.

I never thought I’d see the day. But I was there…

Until a couple years ago, we had a good well. Not deep… Maybe 90 feet… But it

            ran clear and cold.

Every morning I’d pump out what we needed, fill the barrels, water the garden...

It was reliable. Until it wasn’t…

I started noticing the signs around mid-summer.

            Pressure dropping… Faucets sputtering…

At first, I blamed the pump. Swapped it out. No change.

            Then one morning…

I Pulled The Lever On Our Hand Pump And

Nothing Came Out But A Dusty Cough...

I remember just standing there, hand

on the handle, sun rising behind me,

            thinking:

            "This can’t be happening."

            But it was.

Thank the Lord, we had some water

            stockpiled. Just under 500 gallons

between a few food-grade barrels and

            our rain catch.

Enough to get by for a couple weeks,

maybe a month if we were careful.

I filed the paperwork to get a new well drilled. Five-month backlog.
